Anerades
The Anerades Nature Trail is a scenic gorge walk near Miliou in northwest Paphos that showcases the region's botanical richness and rugged landscape character. This trail offers multiple route options allowing flexibility—the blue route (featured here) ascends through a picturesque gorge with predominantly shaded paths, while shorter and longer variations suit different fitness levels. The walk begins on a farm track before transitioning to footpath terrain that can be muddy in places, requiring appropriate footwear and water preparation. The flora is particularly impressive, with countless species of wildflowers displaying delicate aromas and splendid colors that vary dramatically with season. This is an excellent choice if you want to experience northwest Cyprus's countryside beauty while having agency over distance and difficulty.
The gorge terrain gives the walk a sense of enclosure and intimacy despite the open sky above. The approach from the B7 road near Miliou places the trail in genuinely beautiful countryside, with rolling hills and diverse vegetation that reward attentive observation. The shaded nature of much of the route makes it comfortable even in peak summer months.
The trail sits close to the Sulphur Spring nature trail, allowing for combined outings if desired. The designers specifically recommend hiking the blue route in ascending direction rather than reverse, which is helpful planning information. Avoid the route's lower sections in reverse to maintain both safety and enjoyment.
