What Monopatia is
Monopatia is a free, non-commercial, informational website about hiking trails in Cyprus. Trail data, descriptions, maps, and routes are provided for general guidance only and are compiled from public sources, field research, and contributions from hikers.
Hike at your own risk
Hiking carries inherent risks, including but not limited to weather, terrain, wildlife, and physical exertion. You are solely responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your group. Before any hike, you should:
- Verify the trail and route against current, authoritative sources.
- Check weather and trail conditions on the day of the hike.
- Bring appropriate equipment, water, food, and navigation tools.
- Inform someone of your plans and expected return time.
- Know your limits and turn back if conditions deteriorate.
Trail distances, elevation, difficulty ratings, and route geometry on Monopatia are estimates and may be inaccurate, out of date, or differ materially from conditions on the ground. No warranty is made as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any purpose of any information on this site. Monopatia and its authors accept no liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from use of this site or reliance on any information it contains.
Content and copyright
- The Monopatia source code is published under the MIT License.
- Trail descriptions, ratings, and curated metadata are made available for personal, non-commercial use. Please don't republish or scrape the dataset for commercial purposes without permission.
- Trail names, place names, and reference photos may be subject to third-party rights.
- User-contributed activity data (via Strava sign-in) belongs to the user and to Strava under their terms.
Third-party services
Monopatia integrates with and links to third-party services, each governed by its own terms:
- Strava — for OAuth sign-in and activity sync (Strava Terms)
- OpenStreetMap and Thunderforest — for base map tiles
- OpenTopoMap — for the topographic map style
- Wikiloc — for some trail route references
- Google Maps — for trailhead location links
- Google Analytics — for anonymous traffic analytics
Monopatia is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these services.
Changes
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
