The Antrouklies Trail is a challenging mountain walk deep in the Paphos Forest that rewards hikers with 360-degree panoramic views and a genuine sense of wilderness. Starting near Tsakistra village and climbing steeply through dense pine and cedar forest, the route summits a series of mountain peaks with expansive vistas overlooking the wild forest interior and glimpses toward the Morphou Bay in the distance. This is not an easy walk—the ascent is steep and the descent demands careful footing—but it is a great choice for experienced hikers who want proper elevation gain, outstanding views, and the possibility of encountering the elusive Cypriot Mouflon in this remote and unspoiled landscape.

The trail is linear and well-suited to winter hiking, when cooler temperatures make the sustained climbing more manageable. Markings are sparse in places, making a GPS route or detailed map essential, particularly for a first visit. The landscape shifts between open ridge-tops with sweeping vistas and sections dense with native forest, creating a strong sense of seclusion and natural character. The trail takes its name from the Antrouklies trees encountered throughout.

The walk is moderately remote and best attempted by confident hikers, ideally in a group. The reward is an immersive experience in the high forest interior of Cyprus, far from the easier valley and coastal routes more common in the region. Allow 2–3 hours for the ascent and descent, and bring plenty of water—shade from the forest canopy helps, but the effort is real.
