Arkolachania is one of the classic picnic sites of the Troodos state forest, tucked into mature woodland at just over 1,000 m on the forest road that runs from Saittas towards Mesa Potamos monastery — about 7 km from Saittas, with a left turn shortly before the monastery. Forest roads from Pano Platres, Kato Amiantos and Moniatis reach it too. It is a proper full-service station: room for close to nine hundred people, drinking water, BBQ hearths, large wooden tables and benches, toilets, a children's playground, and access for visitors with reduced mobility.
The setting is what brings people back — deep green forest all around and a real sense of being far from everything, with the monastery of Mesa Potamos just down the road for a short add-on visit.
For hikers, the trailheads of Pouziaris and Persephone are about 1.6 km away, the E4 passes just under 2 km off, and Dafni - Mazokampos starts around 2.4 km from the site — enough options to turn a picnic into a full mountain day.
