Gefiri Panagias is the opposite of the big organized grounds: a small forest picnic stop with about seventy places, tucked under dense pines in Adelfoi Forest at 452 metres, six kilometres from Mitsero on the road toward Platanistasa. The site sits directly opposite the forest station of the same name, and the heavy pine shade and clean mountain air make it a natural halfway halt on a drive into the hills.
For its size it is properly equipped: wooden table-benches, barbecue hearths, drinking water, toilets, and wheelchair-accessible facilities.
The E4 European long-distance path passes essentially past the entrance, some 130 metres away, which makes the site a handy break point on longer E4 days. The Amadriades trail starts about three kilometres away, the Xyliatos loop at the dam is four kilometres off, and Palaichori - Appis begins within five.
