Amadriades

The Amadriades Trail is a short circular route in the Troodos foothills of Nicosia district, named after the Hamadryads of Greek mythology — the wood nymphs whose lives were bound to the trees they inhabited. The name is a fitting one: the route is a forest-and-foothill loop rather than a peak ascent, and it suits walkers who want a quiet wooded circuit close to the central villages without committing to a long Troodos day.

At about 5.3 km with roughly 200 m of climbing, it is moderate in scale and circular in shape, which makes it easy to plan as a half-day outing. The terrain is the kind of rolling, partly shaded foothill country typical of the northern slopes of the central range — somewhere between cultivated village land and proper mountain forest. There is no headline summit or named landmark to chase, which is part of the appeal: it is a walk for people who like the woods themselves.

It is a good choice for hikers looking for a relaxed circular forest walk in Nicosia district, or a shorter alternative to the bigger Madari–Adelfoi loops further south.
