Pera Vasa is a classic deep-forest picnic site in the heart of the Paphos forest, on the road from Agios Nikolaos towards the Tzelefos bridge — about 9 km from the village, past the bridge and the Arminou dam. It sits at about 507 m in state-forest pine country and is laid out for around 66 people, with drinking water and barbecue hearths; fires are allowed only in the grills provided. There is no playground, and the site is not adapted for wheelchairs — this is proper forest terrain.
Its landmark is a tree: the Pera Vasa pine, described as one of the largest pines in Cyprus — if not the largest — before it dried up. Its huge trunk is preserved and displayed at the picnic site for visitors to admire, a monument to what the Paphos forest can grow.
The hiking access is superb. The long Venetian Bridges route (about 19 km) passes right by the tables, and within roughly five kilometres you can also pick up Kaminaria - Selladi tou Adoni - Diarzos river, the E4, and Kykkos - Panagia - Chrysorrogiatissa — enough to build a full mountain day around one set of tables.
