Pikrovrisi tis Merikas

An exceptional gorge trail near Kalo Chorio Orinis in Nicosia featuring unique geological formations and engineered access. This 8.2-kilometer loop takes approximately 2 hours and combines sections on a wooden boardwalk alongside the Maroullenas River within the gorge, transitioning to mountain ascent with panoramic viewpoints. The trail showcases rare volcanic rock formations (Lower Pillow Lavas) of scientific interest, a historic Venetian bridge, and the dramatic gorge landscape. Starting next to the Venetian bridge, the route descends into the gorge, crosses the river, and climbs the mountain. Water levels may rise during heavy rainfall, potentially blocking river crossings. Hiking in cooler months is recommended to avoid summer heat.
