Kakkaristra

The Kakkaristra – Apalos circular trail is a unique hiking experience on the outskirts of Nicosia, featuring an unforgettable geology lesson alongside spectacular viewpoints. This 7 km route follows the dramatic Kakkaristra gorge where 1.8 million-year-old fossils emerge from the canyon walls and scatter along the walking path. The first section traverses the fossil-rich gorge, while the second ascends Apalos Hill for incredible panoramic views before returning via the gorge's alternate rim. An easy, flat trail for most of the route with optional elevation gain for the viewpoint.
