Platy Valley

The Platy Valley trail follows a permanent stream through the Paphos Forest, tracing a river valley thick with plane and alder trees along the water and pine on the surrounding slopes. It is a linear walk with only mild elevation gain, so the effort stays gentle even as the route pushes deep into the forest — the kind of terrain that keeps the ground shaded for most of the day, a rare quality on an island where trail cover is usually sparse.

The dense canopy along the riverbed makes this one of the more comfortable forest walks even in the middle of summer, with the stream keeping the vegetation lush year-round. Bracken, fig, and maple fill out the understory, and the valley is known to draw crabs and the protected Cyprus moufflon. The Komititzi picnic site sits along the same valley system, a natural point to break the walk or use as a return marker.
