Doxa Soi o Theos - Madari
Doxa Soi o Theos to Madari climbs from Kyperounta village into the Troodos Mountains for panoramic views and the Madari fire lookout tower. The name means "God be praised" – reflecting the trail's challenging 3.6km ascent with rewarding 360-degree vistas across Morphou Bay and surrounding villages. At 1,600 meters elevation, this moderate-to-difficult hike through mountain forest offers benches, water refills, and one of Cyprus's finest ridge-line experiences.
The ascent follows well-established mountain paths through dense Troodos forest, beginning from the village of Kyperounta just 2km away. The trail gains approximately 200–250 meters in elevation and takes roughly 2 hours to complete. Along the way, hikers encounter a fountain with drinking water around the 5km mark, multiple benches positioned at scenic overlooks, and increasingly expansive views as they climb higher.
Upon reaching the Madari ridge, the landscape opens into breathtaking panoramas in every direction. The iconic fire lookout tower stands at the summit, offering views that stretch across Morphou Bay, toward the Pentadaktylos Mountains of North Cyprus, and across the entire Troodos range. This is among the most rewarding mountain views in Cyprus, with the combination of elevation, accessibility, and legendary vistas making it a quintessential Troodos experience.
