Agios Nikandros is a rare thing: a picnic ground just metres above the sea. It sits inside the small Agios Nikandros National Forest Park, a pocket of acacia and pine declared a national forest park in 2000, on the low hill between Makronisos and Nissi Beach on the west side of Ayia Napa. Sheltered wooden tables, designated barbecue spots, drinking-water taps, and toilets serve around 125 visitors, the site is wheelchair-accessible, and the clear water of the neighbouring Lanta Beach is only a short stroll away — swim, grill, repeat. There is no playground, though with the beach next door few children will mind.
The coastal E4 European long-distance route passes right beside the tables — less than a hundred metres away — so the site doubles as a natural rest stop on a walking day along the Ayia Napa shoreline.
