Kampi tou Kaloirou — "the monk's glade", after a monk who according to local legend once lived here — is one of the largest organised picnic grounds in the Troodos, spreading over some three hectares of tall pine forest right beside the Platres – Prodromos road, about 3 km from Prodromos and 4 km from the Trooditissa monastery. At 1,328 m the shade stays cool all summer, and the site is equipped for serious numbers: official capacity is over 900 people, with drinking water, toilets, parking, plenty of barbecue hearths, a children's playground and wheelchair-accessible facilities. An organised camping ground shares the same clearing.

Hikers are spoiled here. The E4 European long-distance path runs straight past the picnic tables, while three of the area's classic trails start close by: Atalanti and Trooditissa - Phini about 1.7 km away, and Artemis just over 2 km up the mountain.
