Mavralis is that rare Forest Department picnic site where you can hear the sea: it sits at just 10 m above sea level on the shore of Chrysochou Bay, between the Limni pier and Argaka on the coastal road from Polis, with the beach directly alongside. Administratively it belongs to the Mavralies state forest land, but in character it is a seaside grove — a long, narrow strip of green between the road and the water.
It is well equipped for its size: picnic tables and barbecue pits run the length of the site, there is running water, a playground, and an accessible layout, with parking spread along the strip rather than bunched at one entrance. The shoreline here — once affected by residue from the old Limni Mine — has been cleaned up, and the area now pairs the green of the trees with open sea views.
The nearest marked walks are the Argaka (short) and Argaka (long) trails, which climb into the hills above Argaka village about 3 km away — a natural combination for a morning hike followed by a swim and a barbecue by the shore.
