The long Argaka Dam Trail is a broad, scenic circuit through the Agios Merkurios valley in the Pafos Forest, built around one of the area’s strongest landscape features: the view over Argaka Dam. The route follows an existing forest road with no major inclines, but its length and setting make it feel like a proper countryside excursion rather than a short stroll. Along the way, walkers gain expansive views over Argaka village, the northeastern edge of Akamas, and the whole Bay of Polis Chrysochous. It is an excellent option for hikers who want distance, panoramic scenery, and a strong sense of natural environment without highly technical terrain.

The official forestry guide places special emphasis on the area’s flora and fauna. Calabrian pine dominates the tree cover, while the wider Pafos Forest setting gives walkers a chance to observe birds, small animals, insects, and even the endemic Cyprus mouflon.

This route should especially appeal to people who like dam landscapes, forest roads, and long views. Its combination of open scenery and ecological richness gives it more depth than a simple reservoir loop.
