The Kalopanayiotis Mountain Trail is a serious circular hike for walkers who want the village’s wilder and more elevated side. The route climbs hard to the peak of Kavalos, then continues along a ridge with wide, unspoilt forest views that stretch far across the landscape. This gives the trail a much more adventurous and high-country feel than the easier village loops below. It is an excellent choice for strong hikers looking for one of the more rewarding full-scale outings in the wider Marathasa area.

The source describes the main challenge as the long ascent to the mountain peak, after which the ridge section becomes the defining reward. Views from Apsotiri over Kalopanayiotis and Oikos are specifically highlighted, and the trail also passes the chapel of Archangel Michael near the end.

This is the kind of route that changes character with the season, from wildflowers in spring to mushrooms after the first autumn rains. It should appeal to hikers who want effort, scenery, and a clear mountain identity in one loop.
