Kampi Trail is a short, easy loop through a river valley near the village of Kampi (Kampi tou Farmaka) at 860 meters elevation, famous for its resident nightingales and native trees. This 1km walk requires just 30–60 minutes and features walnut, fig, olive, and plane trees alongside cyclamens and seasonal berries. The trail is electrically lit for night hiking, making it accessible year-round and suitable for families, birdwatchers, and anyone seeking a peaceful nature stroll.
The village of Kampi is named after the nightingales (kampi means "bent" or "curved" in the sense of the birds' curved flight patterns through the valley) that make this microhabitat their home. The river valley creates a unique ecosystem – cooler and more humid than surrounding areas – that supports a diverse range of bird species including woodpeckers and owls. The trail's small river provides water and additional shade, essential for both the vegetation and the wildlife that depends on it.
The lighting infrastructure along the trail makes it one of Cyprus's most accessible evening and night hikes. Families with young children can walk safely after dark, and the experience of a forest trail by electric light creates an entirely different sensory experience than daytime hiking. The short duration, easy terrain, and year-round accessibility combine to make this an excellent introduction to Cyprus hiking for people of all ages and fitness levels.
Reviews

Very shady little trail along the river with fruit trees and a unique tree house. The total loop is about 1.5 km with 60 m of gain/loss. There's a really nice tavern (Potamos tis Militsas) on the way back. Lots of benches.
