The Agios Ioannis picnic site sits at just over 1,000 metres in the Pitsilia high country, above the village of Agios Ioannis Pitsilias — a small community built on a rugged slope at the foothills of Papoutsa mountain, about 3 km from Agros. The village below is ringed by cherry, apple, and peach orchards, and the altitude keeps the air noticeably cooler than the coast, which makes this a pleasant summer stop in one of the quieter corners of the Limassol district.
For walkers the location is hard to beat: the Agios Ioannis Pitsilias trail begins right at the picnic site, so the tables work naturally as a start-and-finish base for the walk. The Agios Theodoros trail starts a short walk away, and the Agros – Kato Mylos and Alonatsia routes both begin within about a kilometre and a half — enough to fill a whole day in the hills from a single parking spot.
