The Choirokoitia trail is an easy 1.1 km walk through varied Mediterranean vegetation in the Maroni River valley near Larnaca, combining natural landscape with proximity to one of Cyprus's most significant archaeological sites—the Neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia, a UNESCO World Heritage location. This short, 45-minute route passes through diverse plant communities and offers rewarding views of the river valley between the village of Choirokoitia and the ancient excavation site. The trail works especially well if you want to combine a gentle outdoor walk with a visit to the remarkable 7,000-year-old ruins of one of the Mediterranean's earliest farming communities. It is ideal for families, archaeology enthusiasts, and anyone seeking a cultural-natural outing that requires modest physical effort.

The trail's narrow path weaves through native Cypriot plants, providing botanical interest alongside historical context. The river valley setting provides some relief from heat, and the proximity to the archaeological site means you can extend your outing by exploring the on-site museum and excavated structures.

Best visited from November through April when temperatures are moderate and the river valley vegetation is at its most vibrant.
