Machairas - Lazanias

This 3km challenging trail in the Nicosia Mountains connects Machairas Monastery with Lazanias village through dramatic terrain with sudden elevation changes. Starting 500m from the Machairas Monastery—an important religious landmark—the route follows the Pedieos River through rich fauna and flora, with difficult scrambling and rough terrain suited only for experienced hikers in excellent fitness. Part of the European E4 Nature Trail, this trail links to the Lazanias-Fikardou trail for extended exploration. The monastery and riverine setting provide spiritual and natural atmosphere, though the hiking demands respect for the landscape.
