Alonatsia
The Alonatsia Trail is a gem for those seeking a tranquil escape with virtually no physical strain, making it one of Cyprus's most accessible nature walks. This 1 km out-and-back path near Agros takes roughly one hour and winds through cool pine forest shade that feels especially welcoming on warmer days. The route starts as a gravel road before narrowing into a proper footpath, crosses several small wooden bridges, and culminates at the serene Kato Mylos Reservoir, creating a natural and satisfying endpoint. The trail's easy accessibility makes it perfect for beginners, families with young children, or anyone seeking a peaceful forest walk without demanding terrain. This is hiking that prioritizes restfulness and nature connection over challenge or views.
The pine forest canopy provides genuine sanctuary from summer heat, while the presence of small chapels along the way adds cultural color to an otherwise serene walk. The artificial lake at the trail's end offers a rewarding destination and a place to sit and absorb the landscape. The final few hundred meters return to gravel road, but the overall journey feels coherent and pleasant rather than anticlimactic.
For those seeking more challenge, the nearby Potamitika nature Trail (2.5 km linear) can be added to extend the day. But Alonatsia stands on its own as the perfect introduction to Cyprus's mountain woodland, or as a restorative walk for those recovering from more strenuous outings.
Reviews

Very nice trail that starts in the forest and finishes at the lake and a picnic site. Lots of benches. Relatively steep climb.
