- Extended version of the Kalopanayiotis viewpoint route
- Includes Theoskepasti chapel, two major viewpoints, and the Kalopanayiotis winery
- Connects the monastery area with a wider sweep of the Marathasa valley
The Kalopanayiotis Viewpoint Trail (2A) is the longer, more rewarding version of the standard viewpoint circuit, adding more distance and a little more effort without losing the route’s scenic character. Starting near St John Lampadistis Monastery, it keeps the core highlights of route 2 while extending towards the Kalopanayiotis winery and the village of Oikos. The result is a walk with more panorama, more village context, and a stronger sense of progression. It is a great choice for hikers who like the idea of the easy viewpoint trail but want a fuller outing.
The route remains circular, but with the added 1.5 km extension it becomes a more substantial mountain-village walk. Highlights include Theoskepasti chapel, the old scrub oak associated with local belief, two panoramic viewpoints over the Marathasa valley, and the winery itself.
This trail suits walkers in decent condition who want scenery without stepping into the most strenuous Marathasa hikes. It sits nicely between a gentle village walk and a true all-day mountain route.
