The Geological Trail is a short, gentle descent through the riverside greenery of old Kakopetria, in the Solea valley. It shares its starting ground with the neighboring Vateri trail — the two were once mapped as a single route before being split into separate legs — and follows the same general run of the Klario River, crossing at least one bridge along the way. Losing about a hundred metres over just over a kilometre, it is a walk best taken downhill, letting the path carry you rather than climb.
Because it threads through the old village edge rather than open countryside, the trail keeps company with plane trees, running water, and the quieter corners of Kakopetria's historic quarter. The name points to the geology of the wider Solea and Troodos area — part of the Troodos ophiolite, one of the best-exposed slices of ancient ocean floor anywhere in the world — though the trail itself is best treated as a local nature walk rather than a formal geological trail with marked outcrops.
It suits visitors who want a short, easy, almost entirely downhill stroll near old Kakopetria, ideally paired with a walk of the Vateri leg to make a fuller loop of the riverside.
